Dell’s much anticipated smartphone device, the Venue Pro, is finally set to release today.
According to SlashGear the new phone will be available at Microsoft's seven retail stores from 8 November, while Dell is planning to sell its device through its website from 15 November.
This new device will sport a slide out QWERTY keyboard with a 4.1 inch touchscreen display. The handset will also come bundled with a 5MP camera, 1GHz processor and Gorilla Glass display to prevent accidental damage.
There are also reports that Dell is planning to switch its employees from using RIM’s BlackBerry to its own phone. The company is planning to roll out the Windows Phone 7-based device to a quarter of its global workforce.
In an interview with Wall Street Journal, Dell CEO Brian Gladden mentioned that the decision to switch its employees from BlackBerry to the Venue Pro will save the company around 25 per cent of its communication costs.
RIM’s senior vice president of corporate marketing Mark Guibert has dismissed Brian Gladden’s statement, saying that Dell is making this move only to receive free publicity.
