Call of Duty developer Treyarch has hit out at gamers taking advantage of Black Ops glitches.
Writing on the Black Ops forums, Treyarch design director David Vonderhaar warned gamers from trying to exploit the game’s bugs, and others from fuelling glitchers’ egos with “Internet hysteria”, Escapist Magazine reports.
Describing the glitchers as “douche-bags” wanting to be “Internet nerd famous”, Vonderhaar said that he would “personally wield the ban hammer for anyone who thinks he is clever by abusing any glitches.” But added that Treyarch has a “constructive, measured, and well-managed live ops team” monitoring the situation.
Thanking those who sent in “polite, constructive messages without the hysterics,”, Vonderhaar said that, although Treyarch may not spend time on the forums talking about the glitches, it does not mean that the company doesn’t know or care about them.
“I'm not going to talk about it publicly. We are disinterested in making mini-celebrities out of douche-bags,” he said. “You better think twice before you glitch. You never know who in your game doesn't like glitchers who reports you and saves the game in their File Share and tells us about it.”
