Microsoft has released the SQL Server 2008 R2 Parallel Data Warehouse appliance.
The SQL Server 2008 R2 Parallel Data Warehouse appliance, codenamed Denali, has been designed to meet an organisation's mission-critical data warehouse needs.
According to the software giant, the appliance will be available to the customers in a number of hardware choices in partnership with Hewlett-Packard.
The Parallel Data Warehouse appliance will bring highly scalable, high performance or high availability options for parallel data processing.
The appliance, which will be available in Europe through Bull in the near future, is available in the US for $38,255 per processor. The appliance will usually have 22 processors per rack.
Ted Kummert, senior vice president, Business Platform Division at Microsoft, said in a statement: “Enterprises today are facing challenges of increasing volumes of data from which they need to gain business insight rapidly. SQL Server 2008 R2 Parallel Data Warehouse provides high-scale enterprise capabilities delivered as an appliance with choice and deployment simplicity.”
