USB 16-Port hub - what its it good for?

Some commentators have suggested that a 16-port USB hub is a frivolous exercise in excess and overkill, but I beg to differ.

I have my MacBook connected to three four-port USB hubs -- that's 12 USB ports - most of the time, and on occasion have run out of ports. I can see a 16-port unit being very convenient at times.

This USB Slim 16-Port Hub from Brando.com allows you to connect up to 16 USB devices simultaneously. The downsides are its relative bulk and its cost - $72.00 - which is a lot of to cough up for a USB hub. It comes in a choice of black or white, black for PC users, white for Mac users pining for a similarly-coloured phone.

It comes bundled with a USB Cable and Universal AC power supply as no way you can bus-power 16 USB devices.
