Local search app for iPhone comes to U.K

Calgary, Canada based mobile local search services provider Poynt Corporation has announced the availability and localisation of its award-winning Poynt local search application for iPhone and iPod Touch devices in the United Kingdom France, Italy, and Spain.

Poynt, a free application available at the iTunes App Store, connects iPhone and iPod Touch users to businesses, movies, retailers, restaurants, gas prices and local weather information. Poynt for iPhone features Poynt 360, a unique augmented reality feature that uses the iPhone's GPS, compass and camera to display search results as clickable tags over a live view of the surrounding environment.

Poynt now gives international iPhone users, whether at home or travelling abroad, the power of multiple applications in one intuitive package. Users can view search results on an interactive map and get driving directions, as well as view restaurant information and soon users will be able to make reservations.

Users can also check local weather conditions, save their favourite business and theatre searches, look up cinema times or watch trailers of the latest films. Poynt for iPhone also features Rotten Tomatoes film ratings, giving users an overall ranking of how critics feel about the latest movies.

"Expanding Poynt's iPhone availability throughout the EU provides local residents and visitors alike with an easy-to-use way to learn about and enjoy the area around them," says Poynt Corp.CEO Andrew Osis. "Whether you are looking for directions to local landmarks or points of interest, information and directions to nearby places to eat
or businesses, Poynt for iPhone provides an easy way to explore and enjoy the area around you."
