Steve Jobs Personally Calls Rejected iPad Developer

Steve Jobs personally called developer Ram Arumugam after his "Economy for iPad" app was rejected by Apple.

The financial app was rejected on the grounds of using a private API in its code, which Apple doesn’t allow. This prompted the developer to send an e-mail appeal to the app-review board at Apple to make an exception.

In the e-mail Arumugam stated that while using the SDK he discovered a bug which prevented the on-screen keyboard from disappearing, Mac Observer reports.

Two hours later Arumugam got a surprise call from The Apple boss himself.

According to Arumugam, Jobs talked to him about his appeal and the “no private API” policy of Apple which he mentioned on his blog.

Arumugam also emailed Steve Jobs on October 26 explaining why he had used a private API code and not Apple’s Software Development Kit (SDK).

After his chat with Jobs, Arumugam removed the API and figured out a new solution to the problem after which it was accepted into the iPad app store. Since then “Economy for iPad” has become the No. 1 selling paid financial application in the iPad store and is priced at $2.99.
