Apple iTunes 10.1 Update Released

Apple has released the iTunes 10.1 software update for Mac and Windows.

The new release will offer support for the iOS 4.2 firmware update for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

The company announced that the new iTunes update will come with AirPlay, iOS 4.2 support and a number of important stability and performance improvements.

Users with devices running on iOS 4.2 are set to be able to sync them with their Macs and PCs using the new iTunes 10.1.

AirPlay, the feature that is also expected to arrive for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, will allow users to wirelessly stream music and videos directly to the new Apple TV device from their PCs. Apple has so far benefited from encouraging interoperability between its own devices and this feature is set to be no different.

Apple has already released the iOS 4.2 Gold Master build to developers, but has delayed the public launch of the iOS 4.2 software update because of a technical glitch.

As of now, Apple has given no updates on when the firmware will be released.
