Dell UK has confirmed via Facebook that its super large smartphone, the Streak, would get an update to Android OS 2.2 towards the end of the month.
Announced on Friday, the update, which will be deployed over the air, should happen over a period of time and staggered by region.
Dell did allow users to update their Streak to Android OS 2.2 via a browser but later decided to remove the page (which can still be found in Google's Cache).
Android OS 2.2 is expected to bring Stage, Dell's new user interface which, the documentation says, is a set of widgets that brings data and content together.
There's also some tweaks to improve performance and memory management, enhanced Microsoft Exchange support, the ability to create a portable Wi-Fi hotspot, Adobe Flash 10.1 and a new feature called Dell Mobile Sync.
Two months ago, O2 tried to roll out Android OS 2.1 (Eclair) to Streak users but the process proved to be marred with controversy as the upgrade made life difficult for some.
