News@5: iAd Set for European Launch, Plusnet To Move Call Centres Back To UK & Virgin Media

Apple is set to launch its iAd advertising service in France and the UK from December and and Germany from January. The platform, which operates on mobile devices such as the iPhone and the iPad, is launching with the backing of major brands like L’Oreal, Renault and Unilever.  

Telecommunications company Plusnet has announced that it will stop using its call centre operation in Durban, South Africa, pledging to move it to its headquarters in Sheffield instead.

Virgin Media has launched a campaign calling for an end to the misleading advertising of broadband speeds by ISPs. Called stopthebroadbandcon.com, the campaign invites visitors to sign an online petition to persuade the Advertising Standards Authority to “put a stop to misleading broadband advertising once and for all.”

Vodafone might have the exclusivity for the HTC 7 Trophy for now, that doesn't prevent the mobile phone operator from gradually dropping the price of the Windows Phone 7 handset. The phone is currently on sale at Mobiles.co.uk, a subsidiary of Carphone Warehouse, for £25 per month with a £30 automated cashback which brings the price of the deal to £23.75 per month.

Since release, Call Of Duty: Black Ops has smashed previous games industry records after having the largest entertainment launch of all time. 

The latest installment in the FPS series managed to sell 5.7 million copies worldwide on its first day, whilst the previous title in the series Modern Warfare 2 only managed to sell 1.8 million in the same time frame.
