The Guardian has revealed the details of its upcoming paid-for iPhone app ahead of an Apple event, in which the company is expected to announce several subscription-based apps.
The news publication also released a final update to its existing iPhone app, which will be removed from the app store once the new subscription-based service is launched. The Guardian advised people to download the updated version before it gets taken down.
In a blog post, the company said that the new Guardian app, which will be released before Christmas, will be available for £2.99 for six months and £3.99 for 12 months. The app will be offered for free in the US on an ad-based model.
The Guardian said in a statement: “We'll be launching the new app globally for the first time and although we can't confirm exactly when it will be available, we're working towards a pre-Christmas release”.
