Sony Ericsson has unveiled the Xperia arc at this week’s Consumer electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
The first of a new generation of Xperia handsets, the arc is also the first smartphone to run on Google’s Android 2.3, the company announced.
The smartphone features a huge 4.2-inch capacitive multi-touch screen “Reality Display”, offering “visual brilliance” and a “crystal clear image” at 854×480 pixel resolution.
Weighing only 117 grams, the smartphone also packs an 8.1 megapixel camera capable of HD recording, which can be viewed on TV using the in-built HDMI connector, and features Sony Exmor R technology for optimum low-light video and photography.
The Xperia arc is powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon chip, comes with 512 MB internal memory and microSD card support to boost storage up to 32 GB.
Available in two colours - Midnight Blue and Misty Siver - the Xperia arc is set to be available from Q1 this year.
