Call of Duty: Black Ops has been announced as the best selling game of 2010 in the UK after topping the All Formats Chart of The Association for UK Interactive Entertainment (UKIE).

According to UKIE, the game outsold the likes of FIFA 11, Just Dance and Red Dead Redemption. Call of Duty also topped the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 charts for 2010.

Michael Rawlinson UKIE’s Director General lauded 2010 as “another strong year for the video games industry, with record breaking sales figures from games such as Call of Duty: Black Ops.” 

“2010 also saw casual gaming really take off, particularly on social networking sites and on mobile phones,” he added.

Rawlinson said that he expects the upward trend to continue long into 2011.

He said: “With more video games than ever before being played, on an ever growing range of games consoles, PCs, mobile phones, mobile devices and internet enabled TVs, the industry has widened beyond all expectations and will continue to expand exponentially in 2011.”

Despite only launching in November, the game has broken a number of sales records and has managed rack up over $1 billion world wide.
