Over 5 million Beatles tracks have already been downloaded on iTunes, less than two months since the band’s back-catalogue was made available for sale on Apple’s music store.
When they first arrived on iTunes, the band’s tracks and albums rose straight to the top of the sales charts and over 2 million individual tracks were downloaded within the first week, T3 reports.
All 13 of The Beatles’ albums are available on Apple’s store, with single albums setting back customers £10.99 and individual tracks selling for £0.99. The most popular track downloaded so far has been ‘Here Comes The Sun’, whilst the most frequently downloaded album has been ‘Abbey Road’.
Speaking about the original release of The Beatles’ catalogue on iTunes in November, former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney said: “We’re really excited to bring the Beatles’ music to iTunes, it’s fantastic to see the songs we originally released on vinyl receive as much love in the digital world as they did the first time around.”
