Samsung’s app store for Smart TVs has now topped over 2 million downloads, it has been revealed today.

The Samsung TV App store, which allows users to download apps to their Smart TV and access them on screen, has reached this latest milestone only 53 days since the portal reached one million downloads. Hitting one million took a comparatively longer 286 days to reach.

The speed at which the TV app store has reached this new download landmark seems to show that both the store and the idea of downloading apps to a TV is starting to really take off.

Some of the most downloaded apps include YouTube, Hulu Plus, ESPN Next Level, AccuWeather, Google Maps and Texas Holdem. The store also features apps for BBC iPlayer, Twitter and Netflix. 

The company now has over 380 apps available in store. Of these, 259 are free according to Samsung Hub.

Samsung plans to sell 12 million smart TVs this year, which probably means that app downloads are set to soar even further over the next 12 months.
