Microsoft Details First Windows Phone 7 Software Update

Microsoft has announced the details of the first Windows Phone 7 software update, due to be launched in the next few months.

In a blog post, Microsoft said that the platform will be getting a long awaited copy/paste feature, faster games and apps, as well as an improved search function on the platform's Marketplace.

The Windows Phone 7 platform, which has thus far failed to make a great impression in the smartphone market, was derided by many users for lacking a copy/paste function at the time of its release. The company, however, now plans to rectify this issue in the upcoming update.

Describing how the function will work, Microsoft explained: “In many cases you just tap a word, slide your finger to highlight any additional text, then tap the Copy icon. To insert this text in a message or app, just tap the spot where it should go, then tap the Paste icon.”

The Marketplace search engine will also be updated to allow users to easily search for specific apps, games and music.
