The first batch of Apple iPhone 5 handsets will come out in May 2011, just a few weeks before the smartphone is expected to go for sale.
China's Commercial Times says that Apple's manufacturing partners will begin "volume production" of the iPhone 5 in May, possibly towards the beginning of the month.
The handset is expected to be launched on the 6th of June 2011 at the Moscone Conference Center in San Francisco on the first day of the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference.
The report by Commercial Times also mentions that Chi Mei Hon Hai may be in charge of producing the LCD panels for the iPad 2 and the iPhone 5 with TPK Chen Hong responsible for producing the capacitive sensor for the screens.
The displays are amongst the most expensive components in portable iOS devices. In the case of the iPhone 4, Apple put forward the Retina display capabilities of the screen as unique selling point.
