You can now preorder the Xperia Play handset on all the four major mobile phone networks except 3 UK for as little as £30.22 per month on a two year contract.

T-Mobile is taking preorders for the phone (via Buymobilesphones) and offers 900 minutes, 500 texts and the unlimited internet booster; the total cost on this package is £725.36.

Alternatively, you can opt for a shorter 18-month contract which carries a TCO of £591.91 (600 minutes, 500 texts, unlimited internet booster), not a bad deal given that Expansys sells the phone by itself for £540.

The phone has apparently been in the pipeline since 2005 and will be the first handset to get the new Playstation Certified licence.

It is the first (and only one) to come with a slide out game controller which allows the gamer to fully experience popular games such as FIFA without having to compromise on screen quality.
