New REM album launch to be Spotify exclusive

REM's latest album offering Collapse Into Now has been released exclusively to Spotify subscribers.

Paying punters with the European music streaming serve will get to enjoy the veteran band's 15th long player for a week before the rest of the world gets a listen to the 12-track album which was described as 'messy' by Rolling Stone but still garnered a four-star rating.

Premium subscribers in the UK, Sweden, Spain, Norway, the Netherlands and Finland will be able to stream the album from today and Spotify is also running exclusive competitions where fans can win a guitar signed by the band among other goodies.

The Swedish born outfit, which is soon to get a broader release most notably in the USA, is no stranger to signing exclusive pre-release previews with mega-bands having struck a similar deal with U2 back in 2009.
