Android becomes secure

Antivirus company AVG has launched security software for Android, along with delivering the world’s first solution of the same nature for Google OS tablets.

The application builds on from their AVG mobile solutions, by delivering Mobilation for Android phones/ANTIVIRUSFree for the plethora of Google OS tablet devices coming to the marketplace.

The app uses cloud-based technology in order to create a small footprint on the device and to prolong the battery life, whilst protecting the data on the mobiles and tablets from malicious attacks and infections.

AVG’s Mobilation constantly scans apps, settings, data and media files for viruses and malware; if the tablet is lost or stolen the software can be used to remotely trace and wiped the device to protect the on-board data.

The application also backs up items such as contacts, call logs, bookmarks, messages and installed applications to a memory card. There’s a built-in ‘app locker’ that password protects any app on the tablet, all in order to prevent unauthorised access to an application or even data.

The ANTIVIRUSFree/Mobilation can be downloaded for free from droidsecurity.com, where a professional version is also available with SMS security and spam checking at a cost of $9.99.
