Carphone Warehouse has confirmed that it will be selling the HTC Flyer, the first tablet from the Taiwanese manufacturer, for £599.99 and has already stated taking preorders for the device.

Like so many tablets, the HTC Flyer was launched at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February and will be the most expensive 7-inch tablet on the market.

This model though is 3G which means that the Wi-Fi only model which will be launched later this year is likely to be significantly cheaper.

The Flyer comes with a set of rather impressive specifications; for example, it has a 1.5GHz processor from Qualcomm, the first device to carry the system on chip. It also makes it theoretically the fastest device when it comes to raw clock speed.

Its 7-inch screen displays up to 1024x600 pixels and can be used with HTC's proprietary Scribe technology which allows a stylus to be used on the capacitive screen.

Other noteworthy features include its notetaking application, an exclusive movie service, 1GB RAM, 32GB onbaord storage with the possibility to double that by using a microSD card slot, a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera and a 5-megapixel rear one.

Carphone Warehouse says that it will go on sale in early May 2011 and will run on Gingerbread first and then on Honeycomb in the future; in either case, there will be a heavy layer of HTC Sense UI on top.
