Search engine giant Google has unveiled the new Business Photos tool for its Google Places location based service which brings Street View indoors.
Marissa Mayer, VP of Location and Local Services at Google, announced during her keynote at the Social Loco social networking conference in San Francisco that the new service will allow users to see the inside of the establishments they were exploring.
The photos feature will be integrated with the location based Google Places service that allows users to look for banks, restaurants and other businesses near their location. The company is pitching the service to businesses for making their Google Places listings more appealing to users.
Users on the other hand, will be able to get a decent look inside the bar or eating joint they plan to visit the first time using Google Places.
Mayer said during her speech that the service is currently only available to businesses in the US, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Interested businesses could contact Google for sending a photographer to take the images.
“Millions of potential customers visit Google every day to learn about places and businesses. Through scheduled photo shoots, Google is introducing a new way for you to showcase your business to the world,” Google says on the Business Photo page.
