A new study from Canaccord Genuity has revealed that the iPhone 4 is the number one selling handset at AT&T and Verizon, with the iPad and iPhone 3GS also bringing in a lot of revenue for Apple.
According to this study, the $49 iPhone 3GS is generating more sales than Android devices such as the HTC Inspire and Motorola Atrix.
An analyst from Canaccord, Michael Walkley, commented, "Interestingly, our April checks indicated continued strong demand for the iPhone 3GS at AT&T and iPad 1 at Verizon, as these older generation products with reduced prices often outsold new Android products."
There was no surprise to find that the iPad is the number one selling tablet and that BlackBerry PlayBook, Motorola Xoom or Samsung Galaxy Tab have significantly lower sales levels.
DigiTimes reported that the other manufacturers struggling to compete with Apple’s products and due to a lack of sales, are seeing an inventory surplus.
Apple experienced a drop in sales in Q1, selling 4.69 million devices compared to 7.33 million units last quarter.
Cannacord’s study has also shown that the 16GB and 32 GB iPad 1 device had been sold out in the first two weeks after iPad 2’s release.
Despite all that, Android devices still have a good market share, the mobile platform from Google has a 31.2% market share, RIM holds 30.4% and Apple 27.4%.
All in all, Apple made a good decision when they lowered the price tag on their older devices.
