Android Market gets updated

Internet search engine giant Google has revamped the Android Market home screen, along with bringing in five new features.

The update to the Android application software repository’s front-end is geared up to make it easier to find apps that are being sought, along with listing the most popular and what’s hot right now.

Android Market has noted a veritable increase in throughput of late, with over 200,000 apps listed that are supported on 300 Android devices with 4.5 billion downloads to date.

The new top app charts has been revamped to be fresher and more country specific, all in order to provide the most current and relevant search results.

Android’s Market five new features are the top app charts, editor’s choice category, top developers, better related apps and trending applications.

The editor’s choice is a listing of some of the best apps available for Android, which are chosen by the Android Market staff.

The top developer’s category recognises developers that are creating the highest quality items, from the most popular and notable apps available on Android Market with a special icon wherever the developers name is shown.

The better related apps section now appears on the left side of the app page. Here there are two groups of related apps: apps frequently browsed by people who viewed that item and apps that people tend to install alongside the software.

The trending apps is a new section to the Android Market homepage that shows trending apps, which are those apps that are quickly growing in daily installs.
