iPad 1 vs. iPad 2 As A Business Tablet

How does the iPad 2 with its predecessor when it comes to using it for business? Apple says this tablet brings many improvements compared to iPad 1 but let's look closer.

The iPad 2 incorporates a 720p HD rear camera and a prehistoric VGA front-facing camera. It must still be considered an improvement, and video conferences are quite okay when used with Fuze. Also, iPad 2 users can also switch between cameras with a tap.

The 1 GHz Apple A5 dual-core processor is another upgrade from the 1GHz single-core A4 chip used in iPad 1, which Apple says it works nine times faster.

iPad 2 also has a new look, which some consider an important factor, it is thinner and lighter and its cosmetic changes do make the iPad 2 an attractive product for business people. iPad 2 is 8.8 mm thick, and is easier to hold it in one hand compared with the iPad 1. The Wi-Fi model is also lighter weighing just 601 grams.

A further new addition is the gyroscope, also used in the iPhone 4. Together with the 3-axis accelerometer, it increases motion sensing accuracy which is a useful feature for mapping apps, amongst other things.

Wi-Fi + 3G models offer EDGE plus quadband HSPA - which lets the iPad work on more Wi-Fi networks including abroad, and CDMA / EV-DO, allowing the iPad 2 to work on older Verizon network segments.
