Storage solutions maker Kingston has partnered with SandForce to dish out a new line of solid state drives that is based on SandForce’s SF-2281 controller.
The Kingston HyperX series SSD uses the SandForce SF-2281 SATA 6Gb/s controllers with Intel 25nm Compute NAND (5K Program Erase). The new SSDs are available in 120GB and 240GB storage capacities.
The devices come with a read speed of 525 Mbps and write speeds of up to 480 Mbps. The company informed that the devices will ship to partners on July 11 with the general availability hitting by the end of the month.
The company failed to announce the pricing for the SSDs but said that they will be competitively priced against OCZ’s offerings.
“This launch is very exciting for us at Kingston. The SandForce controller allows us to deliver the high-end performance that is needed for power-users, gamers, and enthusiasts,” said Nathan Su, Flash Memory Sales Director, APAC Region, Kingston.
“Achieving a final production quality controller and firmware has been an exacting process, but well worth the wait. By pairing SandForce's latest controller with Intel 25nm compute NAND (P/E 5K), we have built an SSD that meets the requirements set by true enthusiasts.” he added.
