The iOS 5 Beta 2 version released by Apple for developers blocks the Gevey SIM tool from unlocking an iOS device.
According to an article on Engadet, developers have been releasing snippets of information on the features that come with the new iOS 5 version.
The most notable of them is Apple’s move to prevent the Gevey SIM software offered by Applenberry from allowing users to unlock their iOS devices. The software let users unlock the SIM on their devices without having to jailbreak the iDevice.
However, Apple has failed to patch the vulnerability that allows RedSn0w 0.9.8b1 tethering tool to jailbreak iOS devices. The tool can still be used to crack iOS 5 Beta 2.
The new iOS 5 beta also comes with an updated notifications feature that makes alerts and reminders to pop-up on the lock screen with a large typeface. The notifications, if they go unheeded, will appear on a notifications banner on top of the menu screen.
Users will also be able to curate photo albums on their iOS devices however, in case they transfer one photo from an album to another, they should not delete the original one as both will be deleted.
