Angry Birds Movie To Be A Reality Soon, Rovio Hires David Maisel

Gaming studio Rovio Mobile has announced that it’s madly popular Angry Birds game will be turned into a Hollywood movie soon.

According to a report on Variety, Finland based Rovio has roped in former Marvel Studios chairman David Maisel as a special advisory to the company.

It is clear that Rovio is planning to use Maisel’s long experience in churning out Hollywood hits based on comic book characters, to produce the highly awaited Angry Birds movie.

The game has received more than 250 million downloads worldwide and is available for a variety of platforms including iOS, Android and PlayStation 3.

“There has been so much chatter about an 'Angry Birds' movie, but it's now real. The process is starting now. People are interacting with these characters six inches from them each time they play, and that creates an emotional connection,” Maisel said.

“This is not an American thing. It's not even a Finnish thing. It's a global thing that's something I've never seen before. It will be exciting to expand (this intellectual property) within Hollywood,” he added.
