Korean Smartphone maker Samsung has decided to drop a counter suit filed against Apple in order to re-focus its legal assault on the iPhone maker.
Even though the company dropped the counter suit against Apple, it does not mean that it has backed down.
According to PCworld, Samsung is suing Apple for patent infringement in eight courts across six countries.
The company recently added new patents to the list of those being allegedly infringed by Apple and even filed a complaint with the US International Trade Commission to ban Apple from shipping iPhone, iPad and iPod products in the US.
Apple on the other hand, has filed for a preliminary injunction against three Samsung Smartphone devices and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet device.
The iPad maker had first filed a lawsuit against Samsung, accusing it of copying its design for its Galaxy series Smartphone. Samsung had claimed that Apple is resorting to legal bullying as it was unable to handle competition.
“Samsung is asserting its patent infringement claims in Apple’s lawsuit as counterclaims, Samsung dismissed its separate complaint for the sake of efficiency to streamline the legal proceedings. Note that this does not affect other patent violation complaints filed by Samsung against Apple in the United States and elsewhere,” the company said in a statement.
