Channel 4 launches iOS news app

Channel 4 News has launched an iOS app offering seven days of video news as well as content from the broadcaster's web site.

The fee app, which is available now from the iTunes App Store, works on every iOS device capable of running iOS 3.1.3 or later.

It will include the full lunchtime and early evening TV broadcasts as well as blogs from anchors John Snow and Krishna Guru-Murthy as well as iPad exclusive galleries and special reports from around the world.

Channel 4's commissioning editor for new media Vicky Taylor said, "This app embraces the best of Channel 4 News - and we want it to be as accessible as we can make it, so it will be completely free to download. We've adapted the blogs, analysis, picture content and daily news to work in mobile format in a way that will enable Channel 4 News fans to stay in touch with us throughout the day."

Our initial thoughts are that the app looks very slick and works nicely using both 3G and wireless connections.

It's early days yet but the response from iTunes users is also very positive with most giving the free app a five-star rating and glowing reviews.
