Samsung LED has filed a complaint with the US Federal Trade Commission to ban Siemens from importing LED products to the United States.
The company also said that it also filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Siemens in the US District Court in Delaware, seeking damages and ban on Siemens LED products.
Samsung is lashing out on Siemens’ Osram light bulb unit and two of its affiliates Osram Opto Semiconductors and Osram Sylvania, claiming that the company has infringed on eight patents related to LED technology, used in products like automobiles, lighting, TVs and mobile phone screens.
Osram on the other hand, is fairly confident that it will be able to protect its interests in the lawsuit filed by Samsung LED.
Samsung has warned that it plans to launch legal actions against companies which import and use Osram LED products.
"Samsung LED intends to vigorously enforce its intellectual property rights, and these lawsuits reflect Samsung LED's commitment to that enforcement," Samsung said in a statement.
Samsung has also filed similar lawsuits against Osram in Korea as well. It seems that Samsung’s units are embroiled in some lawsuit or the other. Samsung Mobile is currently battling Apple in a patent infringement lawsuit in the US.
