SAP & Google Partner For Enhanced Location-Based Analytics

Enterprise software maker SAP is partnering with Google to integrate its analytics tool with Google Earth and Maps, to allow businesses to analyse location-based "big data" in a more interactive way.

The company said in a press release that it was working with the search engine giant to tie its analytics tool with Google Maps, allowing users to manage large data volumes in an interactive, intuitive, location based environment.

The plans were unveiled during the AlwaysOn Silicon Valley Innovation Summit, which is being held in Santa Clara, California on July 27th and 28th.

The two companies also plan to integrate analytics tools with Google Earth, offering a new way for mining large data based on global locations.

The integration will bring several new capabilities to the enterprise, SAP said. For example, a mobile phone operator might use Google Earth and SAP BusinessObjects Explorer to perform dropped call analytics and find the location of faulty towers.

"Today, more and more information is being geo-tagged, and it is unlocking an entirely new dimension for enterprise data," Sanjay Poonen, president of Global Solutions at SAP said.

"SAP's work with Google marries powerful enterprise software with the world's most popular mapping platform to create entirely new ways for people to understand and interact with business information,” he added.
