Seagate Brings Dedicated Android App for GoFlex Satellite Hard Drive

World’s leading hard disk drive manufacturer Seagate Technology Inc. has launched a dedicated application for its Satellite disk drive to make it compatible with Android based devices.

According to PC Mag, Seagate has announced enhanced storage support for tablet computers and Smartphone powered by Google’s Android Operating System through its GoFlex Media app for its GoFlex Satellite disk drive.

Although Seagate already offered an access to its GoFlex Satellite disk drive for storage to Android users by using an Internet browser, but it is for the first time that the company is offering its users, across the world, a dedicated app for the OS.

“An Android supported app had been part of our development plans for the product from the very start. We are now pleased to offer the new GoFlex Media(TM) App from the Android Market." the vice president and general manager for Seagate’s retail, Patrick Connolly announced.

GoFlex Satellite disk drive was launched by Seagate in May this year. The storage capacity of the hard drive is 500 GB and costs $199. The hardware is capable to connect up to three different devices at one time and has a built-in wireless technology.

The external portable drive which was initially compatible with Apple’s iOS only comes with

a battery that can last up to four hours when streaming video.
