Apple is planning to incorporate projectors in future versions of Macs, iPhones and iPads, a new Apple patent filing has revealed.
According to an Apple patent filing discovered by Patently Apple, the company is looking at adding mini projectors to the iPhone and iPad and a projector accessory for Mac laptops and desktops.
The company believes that a small screen or single screen device, makes its inconvenient for a large number of people to view content properly. The patent is aimed at making screen sharing easy. The patent reveals that the projectors could be of various types, including holographic, LED, LCD and DLP.
Interestingly, the patent also details that the projected screens will be able to interact with one another by allowing users to move objects between them using hand gestures which will be read by their iDevice’s front facing camera. Users will also be able to move devices between projected screens by manipulating them from the device’s screen.
The patent also describes how users will be able to zoom, share, duplicate and distribute devices on the projected screens, and even talks about a dedicated device that could be used to manage all the projected screens from the devices.
