Leading social networking website Facebook is facing backlash from a certain portion of its huge user base globally as synchronised contact numbers of users have been found on the website lying without any security.

Tom Scott, a techie displayed mobile phone numbers along with the display picture of countless Facebook users on a webpage entitled ‘Evil’ on his website. The coder has thankfully hidden the last three digits of the number but unfortunately, the blocked digits are available in full view on Facebook.

“This is true! ALL THE PHONE NUMBERS of ur contacts are now on facebook! Go to the top right of the screen, click on ACCOUNT, click on EDIT FRIENDS, left side of screen and click CONTACTS.” excerpts from the message that has been taking rounds on Facebook and has attracted sharp criticism from users across the world.

However, it has to be noted that contact details published were provided by the users themselves at some point of time which they do not even remember. Users can follow the instructions available in the remaining message and delete the contact details.

Tech experts have advised Facebook users to switch off sync feature on their handsets to prevent from handing over personal details to third parties.
