Mobile phone operator Vodafone has added the white version of the Samsung Galaxy S2 to its "Coming Soon" page; the device will be available either online or in store.
The existence of a white S2 has only recently been confirmed and Samsung confirmed that the handset would be launched on the 1st of September 2011.
As it stands though, Vodafone only has a "coming soon" holding page for the smartphone which doesn't contain any details regarding pricing or release date.
Given that the white version will be just like the black version; one can expect it to cost the same as the latter which in the case of Vodafone means monthly tariffs starting from £36 per month.
That compares poorly with a similar offer from Three which costs £28 per month but comes with 900 minutes, 5000 texts and 1GB broadband allowance.
Vodafone will not have exclusivity on the white S2 which means that it should go on sale at other mobile phone operators as well from the month of September onwards.
The S2 is one of the more popular smartphones on the market and did extremely well when it came to filling the gap between the iPhone 4 and the forthcoming iPhone 5.
Apple's white iPhone 4 was delayed by several months due to manufacturing issues.
"It’s not as simple as making something white. There’s a lot more that goes into both the material science of it – how it holds up over time … but also in how it all works with the sensors," a spokesperson for Apple told the Daily Mail.
