Software giant Microsoft has decided that it won’t publish any titles on Xbox Live Arcade if the game was first available on the PlayStation Network or any other gaming platform.
Microsoft also stated that games which have more downloadable content on other platforms won’t be allowed to grace Xbox Live Arcade either. Therefore, if a game developer wants to bring a PSN title to Xbox Live Arcade, they won’t be able to do so, thanks to Microsoft’s tantrums.
“We’re a little biased, so obviously we’re going to look to protect our own space as best we can and get exclusivity,” Xbox’s Chris Lewis told Eurogamer.
“Whilst I can’t be specific about the terms and conditions, you can be very confident we seek to maximise our own advantage to ensure the playing field is even, and certainly plays to our advantage wherever possible,” he continued.
Microsoft defends it self by saying that in order to differentiate its gaming products from the competition, it has to offer games and content that are not being offered anywhere else. Unfortunately, for some hard-core gamers, some games will not be available to them unless they have multiple video game consoles.
