Hewlett-Packard to Offer Free Apps to Touchpad Tablet Device Owners

by Erica Thinesen, 26 Aug, 2011 News

Computer maker Hewlett-Packard has announced that it will be offering free apps to TouchPad tablet device owners.

The company announced that it will be offering six free apps for the table device for a limited time.

In a business blog post, the company said that the apps, which will be selected by the company, will cost as much as USD$15 if consumers had to buy them.

“If you have an HP TouchPad, get ready to spend some quality time in the HP App Catalog. We’ve selected six apps that normally sell for as much as $14.99 and we’re making them available at no cost to HP webOS customers for a limited time,” the company said.

The free apps being offered by the company include Glimpse, a app which builds on TouchPad’s multi-tasking capabilities, Camera for TouchPad app and games like Big Boss, Sparkle HD, Audubon Birds, and the KungFu Panda 2 Storybook.

Since the company announced that it was discontinuing its webOS tablets and smartphones, the TouchPad device has been selling like hotcakes for as low as $100. Free apps should only help increase sales of the device.
