Wacom Releases New Tablet Device for Graphic Designers and Other Creative Types

Wacom, the maker of graphic design tablets, has released the Cintiq 24HD device targeted at creative professionals.

The 24-inch interactive pen display has a new ergonomic design that allows users to adjust the tablet according to maximise comfort. The device joins Wacom’s other products, Cintiq 21UX and Cintiq 12WX.

The Cintiq 24HD comes with a 24-inch HD (1920 x 1200) widescreen display. Wacom says the device comes with enhanced colors for color-critical work and 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity with 40 degrees of tilt control.

"The Cintiq 24HD is a wonderful example of what can be done when expert design experience and quality engineering are intelligently combined with user feedback from the professional community," said Director of Professional Products for Wacom Technology Services Corp., Don Varga.

"All the right elements have been incorporated into our new flagship to help expand its capabilities and to improve its appeal in such markets as animation, photography and video production where a wide format, color-accurate, high-definition display is a crucial requirement," he added.

The most interesting device feature is the counter-weighted stand that allows people to adjust the height and the incline of the tablet easily. Users are also able to pull the device down to their laps for added comfort.
