iPad-only newspaper, The Daily, which has already managed to earn quite a high reputation amongst Americans, was recently launched in the UK.
The arrival of the ePaper, which is available via Apple iTunes, was first discovered by The Guardian. According to recent Guardian reports, the app is already suffering from some problems including the lack of content relevant to UK audiences.
Initial feedback claims the ePaper mostly contains America-centric articles. It is highly unlikely that this US-centric approach will go down well with UK readers. According to experts, The Daily should seriously consider the issue and focus on providing content more relevant for UK audiences. This may make the app more valuable to those who own iPads and who want to stay abreast of the latest news in the UK.
It is noteworthy that The Daily enjoys support from some really high-profile media organisations such as News Corp., Times and The Sun.
During its launch in the US, Rupert Murdoch highlighted the company’s ambitions of targeting the 15 million or so iPad 2 enthausists who were looking forward to get their hands on the tablet device by 2011.
