Capita Group has moved to acquire customer management outsourcing firm Vertex’ UK Private Sector division for £40.5 million.
Under the terms of the acquisition, Vertex’s 1,400 employees in the UK and 200 support staff in India will be transferred to Capita.
Capita claims the acquisition will allow it to enhance existing resources and provide services to its new and existing customers.
Capita will take over Vertex’s retail, utilities, logistics and transportation, travel and leisure and media and telecoms operation while Vertex will focus on providing better services to government and financial sectors.
“Our clearly differentiated Private Sector business brings real value to Capita in a highly competitive market. As a result of today’s transaction we will continue to focus on and grow in the areas where we are acknowledged as leaders – helping clients unlock citizen and customer value in the public sector and financial services markets in the UK,” said CEO of Vertex, Paul Sweeny.
Capita has been aggressively expanding in the UK call center market, only recently acquiring Ventura for £65 million, which offered BPO services to companies like O2, Google, Orange, British Gas and Tesco Bank.
