Yahoo! announced on Thursday a brand new feature that will integrate the US edition of Yahoo News with the social media platform Facebook.
According to the company, the new feature will enable users to see what their Facebook buddies are reading in Yahoo News, as well as share the articles read by them on the social media site.
The new offering was unveiled at the ongoing F8 conference hosted by Facebook in the city of San Francisco.
Industry experts are of the opinion that this new initiative taken by both the companies will help in improving the editorial activities in Yahoo News, as the addition of social media component will make the platform more interactive, and happening.
For making the feature work, Yahoo News visitors will have to be logged into their Facebook accounts. Then, they will come across a Facebook “facebar” located towards the top of Yahoo News. The users can use this “facebar” to check what their Facebook buddies are reading on the site and share what they are reading themselves.
"People have been sharing links to news articles with friends on Facebook for years, and today Yahoo is deepening its Facebook integration to make social news even more seamless," Ethan Beard, director platform partnerships at Facebook, said in a statement, CNET reports.
