Virgin Media is set to launch its first ever cloud based services aimed at business customers. With this new service, the company hopes to double revenues coming from its enterprise wing within the next 5 years.
According to the company, the new cloud based offering, dubbed Virtual Private Data Centre (VPDC), will mix both the private, as well as public cloud functionalities.
The company further states businesses that sign up for this new service will enjoy the benefits of public cloud platforms such as a pay-as-you-use structure, as well as an enhanced scalability.
To address fears expressed by skeptics who never hesitate to raise their fingers at the security aspects of a public cloud, Virgin Media said that it could come up with a dedicated IPVPN, built straight into the customer’s data center.
“Organisations are craving some clarity and no-nonsense advice. Providing easy-to-use, simple cloud services that do exactly what they say they’ll do, really well, is a breath of fresh air,” said Virgin Media Business’ managing director Mark Heraghty, as reported by IT Pro.
