Asia’s second largest smartphone maker, HTC Corp., is expecting the running year to emerge as the best so far in the company’s history when it comes to the shipment of its mobile phones and tablet devices, the company revealed.
Having played the role of an unknown contract manufacturer for a considerable amount of time initially, HTC has come a long way as one of the leading forces in the global smartphone and tablet computer market.
According to recent report by the research outfit Gartner Inc., the company secured the fifth position in terms of global smartphone sales during the April-June quarter of the running fiscal. The Gartner report claimed that 10.2 percent market share of the global mobile market was in HTC’s possession during the mentioned time-frame.
Earlier in August, the Asian smartphone giant shelled out $300 million in order to purchase a majority stake of Beats - a U.S based audio equipment maker. The move, according to the company, was taken with the vision of exploiting Beats’ expertise to improve the quality of the multimedia services on its products.
The first set of phones with Beats’ technology is likely to be shipped by the company anytime during the second week of the coming October.
