McAfee has moved to acquire NitroSecurity to boost its security information and event management (SIEM) services.
NitroSecurity, a privately held company, makes risk and threat assessment software that allows companies to keep a look out for potential threats and deal with them as they arise. McAfee failed to reveal the financial information pertaining to the deal, but claims the acquisition will close within a month’s time.
NitroSecurity also offers real time security offerings that let enterprise users monitor networks in real-time and detect and dispel threats as they arise.
The company plans to use NitroSecurity’s SIEM offerings to strengthen its Risk and Compliance and Global Threat Intelligence capabilities.
"McAfee is focused on keeping its customers safe with optimised security and risk management solutions," said general manager and senior vice president of the Risk and Compliance business unit at McAfee, Stuart McClure.
"McAfee has taken another significant step toward this goal with the proposed acquisition of NitroSecurity. With NitroSecurity's technology and talent, McAfee can expand its reach into new markets, secure new platforms and strengthen its hold as the leader in the security risk management market," he added.
