Asus has confirmed that its Eee Pad tablet line up will be awarded an upgrade with the latest version of the Android OS platform - Android 4.0, more commonly known as the Ice Cream Sandwich.

Indeed, this is happy news for existing Eee Pad owners, despite the fact that the company has yet to officially announce a timeline in which the update will be dispatched.

Also, it is highly likely that the company’s forthcoming product Transformer will come pre-loaded with the Ice Cream Sandwich.

"Are you waiting for Ice Cream Sandwich? Good news for ASUS customers. Google recently announced the latest update for Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, which brings some exciting new features and capabilities,” Asus said in a statement, according to a report by The Inquirer.

"We're delighted to confirm support for Ice Cream Sandwich on the ASUS Eee Pad Family - our aim is to bring the latest Android update to the Eee Pad Series,” it added.

The Asus Eee Pad tablet range comprises of the Slider and the Transformer. As of now, they are powered by the Android 3.x Honeycomb.
