International Business Machines has dished out new big data analysis tools targeted towards health care and marketing businesses.
The tools, which were unveiled during the 2011 Business Analytics Forum in Las Vegas, will allow organisations to leverage information from multiple resources, including social networks and generate data which makes sense and help them make informed decisions.
The company announced that its InfoSphere BigInsights platform, which runs on the IBM SmartCloud Enterprise is now available. The platform, which can be set under half hour, will allow companies to analyse data from various sources like social networks, mobile and sensors and use the data for their benefit.
IBM said that since the Hadoop based platform was based on the cloud, users do not require to learn Java or Hadoop in order to use it.
The company is offering the platform for free but, enterprise users will have to pay hourly rates in order to use it.
IBM also launched an iPad, which is now available from the App Store, to let companies crunch numbers on the go. The IBM Cognos Mobile is being targeted towards financial services, healthcare, government, communications, retail, and transportation companies.
