Google is rumored to be preparing a native Gmail application for Apple's iPhone platform.
According to a blog postby M.G. Siegler, sources have confirmed that Google is indeed releasing a Gmail app for the App Store.
He believes that the launch of the app is imminent as Google has already submitted it for Apple's approval. It is believed the app will be approved by Apple without any hitch.
Siegler claimed the people who have seen the application informed him that it was very nicely made and functional. Google already provides a web based version for Gmail for iPhone users but the big deal about the native app is that it will bring Push Notifications for Gmail on the iPhone.
"The native Gmail app will likely bring other key functionality as well: like Priority Inbox and one-click starring of messages. Other possibilities include some of the stuff Google is about to roll out for Gmail proper: like contact icons, better threading, and deep searching functionality. Maybe there will even be some Google+ integration, which Google is also hard at work on for Gmail," Siegler wrote.
