Apple Targets Porn Websites that Use the Word iPhone

It is hard to believe that iPhones are more popular than sex, but Apple is determined to pursue adult sites that rely on the word "iPhone" in their domain name to attract visitors.

Apple's people are quite fierce when protecting the company's brand and already legal teams have started their pursuit of companies using titles that refer to Apple's devices. The company recently filed a complaint with the World Intellectual Property Organization against seven domain names that use the word "iPhone" and offer adult content.

Probably the most inconvenient is the site iphone4s.com, as many unsuspecting users are likely to type this name looking for Apple's newest release. The WIPO did not respond right away, though Apple has pursued multiple complaints on this matter in its filing.

Previously, Apple has won legal challenges against other domains related to Apple devices or Apple itself, such as: appleipods.com, ipodhack.com, apple-downloads.com, apple-oem.com, appleoslion.com, appleosxlion.com, macoslion.com, macosxleo.com, macosxleon.com, macosxlion.com, appl.com and aplle.com. And these are just this year's claims.

One might ask why Apple's team didn't think ahead and register these domains before their products like iPhone4S hits the market? (www.iphone27gs.com is still available!)
