After Mexican drug gangs and Israeli security forces, Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood seems to be the new target on hacktivist group, Anonymous.
On Monday, a video was posted on YouTube in which a mechanised voice says, "The Muslim Brotherhood has become a threat to the revolution Egyptians had fought for, some with their lives," as reportedon mscbc.com
The voice further accuses the Brotherhood by saying, "They seek to destroy the sovereignty of the people of Egypt as well as other nations including the United States."
By naming the operation "OpBrotherhood," the video promises to take down Ikhwan Online which is the Muslim Brotherhood's main website on Friday at 6 p.m. GMT. Most likely the website will face distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack.
This attack can be seen as a very interesting turn of events for Anonymous. The group who shows firm support for Palestinian nationalism allegedly attacked Israel's security sites over the weekend and is now threatening the Muslim Brotherhood.
In fact, "Sabu", a prominent and known member the Anonymous, has posted a flag of "Palestinian Islamist Movement Hamas" as a Twitter icon on his profile.
The Brotherhood's website has not mentioned anything about the threat yet.
