Sony Ericsson has announced its plans to bring the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update to its entire of 2011 Xperia devices.
In a blog post, the company confirmed it was currently working towards making the newest Android mobile operating system compatible with the Xperia range of devices.
"We can today confirm that we plan to upgrade the entire 2011 Xperia portfolio to the next version of Android known as Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich. We are working on merging our current Xperia experience with the new features in Android 4.0" the company said in a statement.
The company stated the Xperia arc and arc S, Xperia PLAY, Xperia neo and neo V, Xperia mini and mini pro, Xperia pro, Xperia active, Xperia ray and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman will be updated with the new Android version, which has been designed for both smartphones and tablets.
The company failed mention a specific time frame in which it plans to deliver the highly awaited update.
The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was jointly unveiled by Google and Samsung at an event in Asia. The operating system will be shipped with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the first device in the world to come pre-loaded with it.
